There is no bad time to throw a squarebill crankbait but the Fall season is my favorite. The bass start moving shallow following shad in late summer/ early fall. These fish will remain shallow around flats, points, and shallow coves around any available cover. A squarebill crankbait is an excellent bait for covering water and imitating shad. It also deflects well off cover. I use three different sizes for different situations. The RC Series 2 is my choice in extremely shallow water and around smaller shad. The series 3 is my go to size and gets most of the work. When the fish are feeding on bigger gizzard shad or the water is stained I like the bigger profile and vibration of the series 4.
